Stars tend to be the brightest when surrounded by empty space. When one is alone, away from the noise and the crowd, that’s when the true self is revealed. This can be looked at from a day-to-day basis. Throughout the day, people put on personalities that reflect who they are when around others. However, when the night comes, that is when the need to put on a "mask" vanishes. To some the same self replicates, but to others, that is when true comfort is reached and the main personality pops its head out.
